Red Sox rout Phillies for Opening Day win

PHILADELPHIA —To say Clay Buchholz out-dueled Cole Hamels in the Red Sox’ season opener on Monday would imply that Hamels brought a sword to the fight.

Buchholz won this one in a landslide, leading the Red Sox to an 8-0 win over the Phillies and their No. 1 starter.

Buchholz sliced his way through the feeble Phillies lineup like it was a spring training tune-up and the Phillies were late for dinner. He threw sinking fastballs, disappearing changeups and knee-bending curves that mocked timid hitters as they turned around and walked to the dugout.

Just the Sox’ second Opening Day starter in five years (Jon Lester has started the last four), Buchholz finished seven shutout innings with just three hits and one walk while striking out nine in a performance that deserved all 10’s from the judges.

THREE STRIKES:
1. The Phillies sold 45,549 tickets for this one, but might’ve sold more if the fans knew what kind of entertainers the Red Sox were bringing to town. They hit five home runs and made a pair of acrobatic plays in the field, courtesy of Dustin Pedroia’s glove pick and Shane Victorino’s wall-banging catch. Pedroia homered twice, Hanley Ramirez homered twice and Mookie Betts might've had the longest homer of the day, a towering shot to the last rows of the left-field bleachers.

2. Hamels had allowed 14 home runs in 30 starts last year, but allowed four solo shots before the Red Sox chased him out of the game in the fifth inning. He wasn’t all bad — he only allowed five hits on the day — but was erratic with his command the Sox made him pay when he missed. The Phillies might’ve had unrealistic expectations when discussing trades for the 31-year-old Hamels in the offseason, reportedly asking the Red Sox for Blake Swihart and/or Betts, but the Red Sox have maintained their faith in their rotation.

3. Shane Victorino received a standing ovation during his return to Citizens Bank. The former Phillies outfielder gave a tip of the cap, then played his heart out, charging into the right-field wall to make a catch in the fifth inning and using his legs to steal third base in the second.

GAME BALL: Split it between Buchholz and Pedroia. Buchholz was everything the Sox wanted him to be, and more. Pedroia has been saying he's healthy all offseason and just got a chance to show it. He was spectactular in every phase of the game.

David Beckham offered site for soccer stadium

Image result for beckham

David Beckham has been offered a site in Miami for a Major League Soccer stadium.

Miami-Dade County Commissioners agreed today on a resolution calling for mayor Carlos Gimenez or his designee to negotiate or finalise a deal with Beckham.

It was not immediately clear how much contact the county has had with Beckham and his partners.

Beckham's efforts to get Miami waterfront property for the stadium failed last summer.

The latest offer is a plot on the west side of Marlins Park, a baseball stadium, that has been generally earmarked for football fields.

Beckham's group had previously said they were not interested if they could not have a stadium in central Miami.

Man Utd ace Marouane Fellaini splits up with porn star girlfriend

MAROUANE FELLAINI has reportedly split up with his porn presenter girlfriend Roxanne Jeffers.
Belgium newspaper Sportwereld claim Jeffers has changed her Facebook relationship to single after just over a year together.

Jeffers, who met Fellaini through a mutual friend, is the ex-girlfriend of love rat Ashley Cole.

Fellaini and fellow Belgian Adnan Januzaj were spotted on a night out last night - less than 48 hours before tomorrow's Premier League clash at Newcastle.

Jeffers was reportedly exchanging intimate messages with the Manchester United midfielder during last summer's World Cup.
A source told The Sun: “Roxanne and Marouane have been sexting and Facetiming each other for most of the time he’s been away.
“It’s been a great distraction for him and Roxanne is really into him — she thinks his hair is very cute.”

Kanye West Sends Brooklyn Beckham Birthday Trainers

Brooklyn Beckham has thanked Kanye West for sending him a pair of his Yeezy trainers for his 16th birthday today

Kanye West has sent Brooklyn Beckham a pair of his trainers for his 16th birthday.

The son of David and Victoria Beckham took to his Instagram account to thank the rapper for sending him a pair of his beige trainers, which appear to be from his Adidas Yeezy 750 Boost range, a pair of which can sell for more than $1,500.

He wrote: "Thanks Kanye for the yeezys (sic)"

David - who also has kids Romeo, 12, Cruz, nine, and three-year-old Harper with Victoria - also joined in the celebrations by treating his fans to a flashback picture of himself and Brooklyn - who turns 16 today (04.03.15) - on his Facebook account.

The former footballer shared an image of himself and his son both wearing Manchester United kits while walking around the Old Trafford pitch in 2000 after clinching his fifth Premier League title medal, which then-13-month-old Brooklyn is wearing in the picture.

He also posted another image of him giving his eldest son a kiss on the head and captioned the images: "Happy Birthday to my big boy xx (sic)"

Brooklyn may well have been left embarrassed by David's throwback picture as the 39-year-old star recently revealed his son always asks him to "park around the corner" when he drops him off at school.

He said: "My eldest Brooklyn, who is 16 in March, he says, 'Dad, park around the corner.' And then he gets out and walks around the corner.

"He did it to me the other day after doing it five times on the trot, so I'm driving round and he's just walking into school, and I open the window and go, 'Brooklyn, I love you.' Obviously it didn't go down so well.
"Victoria did have to remind them the other day that actually they've got quite a cool dad, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference."

Victoria Beckham unveils new autumn/winter campaign

Victoria Beckham dazzled the fashion pack when she unveiled the Autumn/Winter 2015 collection of her eponymous line during New York Fashion Week and now just a few weeks later she has once again showcased her skills as a designer. The 40-year-old has revealed the new autumn collection of her label's sister line, Victoria, in a striking campaign shot by legendary photographer Colin Dodgson.

The mother-of-four released the campaign images on her Facebook account on Wednesday morning, with fans taking to the social media website to express their admiration for her new designs.

The quirky images see the models receiving yellow tulips through the letter box and lying down on the ground with their eyes closed as they pose in denim jumpsuits, gingham patterned tops and printed long-sleeved mini dresses, for a retro chic vibe as part of the brand's 'free spirited and fun' aesthetic.

"For the past four seasons, we have invited a photographer to interpret the Victoria Victoria Beckham collection according to their own creative vision for our look book imagery," a representative of the label told the Evening Standard

It's been a successful few weeks for Victoria who once again has dazzled fans with her latest collection for her main eponymous fashion label. Husband David was sat front row with the couple's four children Harper, Cruz, Romeo and Brooklyn, with iconic editor Anna Wintour also taking to the coveted seats to view the new collection.

Backstage, Victoria was reunited with her family as she posed for group photographs. The former Spice Girl had received a sweet card from her children ahead of the show, which bore the message: "Good luck with the show mummy. Love, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. xxxx."

David, who recently announced that he would be launching his own fashion label, has previously spoken out about his admiration for his wife and her ever growing fashion career. "She's won the respect of the fashion industry and many other people as well," he said, talking about her move from pop star to designer.

50 Cent -- Bets $1.6 Mil On Floyd

Image result for 50 cent

How much does confidence cost? If you're 50 Cent, about $1.6 million ... 'cause that's how much the hip-hop star says he's going to bet on his old frenemy Floyd Mayweather Jr. to beat Manny Pacquiao.

50 and his G-Unit runnin' mate Tony Yayo sat down with "The Breakfast Club" this morning -- when Charlamagne Tha God asked Fiddy for his pick for the mega-fight in May.

"Champ 'gon smoke em ... it's gonna look like [the fight] was pumped up for no reason."

So why such a big bet? 50 says he spoke with Floyd at the Chris Brown concert last month -- the first time they've spoken in a while -- and says Mayweather is SUPER focused.

It's interesting ... considering 50 bashed the hell out of Mayweather on social media last year ... ripping on everything from his spending habits to his reading ability.

But $1.6 million buys a hell of a lot of olive branches.

Micheal Jordan joins Forbes' Billionaires List 2015 Ranking

Record 290 Newcomers Join Forbes Billionaires List, Including Michael Jordan

A record 290 newcomers joined the Forbes billionaires list in the last year as world markets defied international turmoil. While wars, diseases and currency crises made headlines, tycoons from every continent but Antarctica managed to mint new 10-figure fortunes.

Nearly 25% of this year’s first-time billionaires hail from China, which produced a world-leading 71 newcomers. The United States came in second, with 57, followed by India, with 28, and Germany, with 23.

The most famous rookie on the billionaires list? Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player of all time and indisputably the best-paid athlete of all time. Forbes first outed Jordan as a billionaire last June. Most of his cash comes from Nike payouts on his iconic brand. The Jordan brand grossed an estimated $2.25 billion in 2013, earning his Airness some $90 million. But his most valuable asset is his stake in the Charlotte Hornets, worth more than $500 million.

When ex-Microsoft MSFT +0.07% CEO Steve Ballmer bought the Los Angeles Clippers for a stunning $2 billion, values of all NBA teams skyrocketed, creating three new billionaires. Jordan’s old boss Jerry Reinsdorf, owner of the Chicago Bulls, joined the list with a fortune of $1.3 billion, and Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander boosted his net worth to $1.6 billion.

Aside from Jordan, the Silicon Valley kids are the stars of the incoming class. Garrett Camp, Travis Kalanick and Ryan Graves, the trio of early Uber members, have seen plenty of bad publicity over the last year. India temporarily banned their service, Spain shut it down entirely, and an Uber executive brought on a torrent of criticism when he suggested digging up dirt on the personal lives of journalists. None of the news has scared away investors, who have put over $4 billion into the company already, valuing it at $41.2 billion. Camp and Kalanick are now worth an estimated $5.3 billion, and first-employee Graves is worth $1.4 billion.

Brian Chesky, Nathan Blecharczyk and Joe Gebbia, the three Airbnb creators, are also facing regulatory concerns, with their couch-crashing business coming up against legal issues in New York City. No matter: The company has 1 million listings for places to stay and is worth more than Hyatt Hotels. Each of the cofounders have $1.9 billion fortunes.

Record 290 Newcomers Join Forbes Billionaires List, Including Michael Jordan

The youngest newcomers to the list are Bobby Murphy and Evan Spiegel, the Snapchat founders who brazenly turned down $3 billion in cash from Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg for their disappearing photo app in 2013. Smart move: Snapchat is now reportedly getting offers that would value the company at $19 billion, and Forbes estimates Murphy and Spiegel are worth $1.5 billion apiece.

The tech boom isn’t just limited to the United States. Brothers Marc, Oliver and Alexander Samwer are known for shamelessly ripping ideas off of successful Silicon Valley companies and creating foreign knockoffs. The three brothers join the billionaire ranks after successfully taking both Zappos-copycat Zalando and Berlin-based incubator Rocket Internet public in October 2014.

The richest first-timer on the list is Maria Franca Fissolo, the widow of Nutella king Michele Ferrero. She shares her $23.4 billion fortune with her family, and her son Giovanni is CEO of the Ferrero Group, which owns the brands Nutella, Kinder, Ferrero Rocher and Tic Tacs.

Despite plunging oil prices and a weakened euro, the ranks of the world’s wealthiest defied global economic turmoil and expanded yet again. For our 29th annual guide to the globe’s richest, we found a record 1,826 billionaires with an aggregate net worth of $7.05 trillion, up from $6.4 trillion a year ago.  The total includes 290 newcomers, 71 of whom hail from China. Youth are on the rise: A record 46 among the ranks are under age 40. One earthward note: The average net worth of list members came in at $3.86 billion, down $60 million from 2014.

Bill Gates is once again the richest person on the planet, a title he’s held for 16 of the past 21 years. His fortune grew $3.2 billion since last year to $79.2 billion, despite a gift of $1.5 billion in Microsoft MSFT +0.07% shares to The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in November 2014.

Carlos Slim Helu of Mexico comes in again at No. 2 while revered American investor Warren Buffett took back the No. 3 spot from Spain’s Amancio Ortega (now No. 4); not even the largest IPO in history was enough to beat the Oracle of Omaha this year. Buffett was the list’s biggest gainer, up $14.5 billion to $72.7 billion, thanks to Berkshire Hathaway’s rising share price.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg moves up 5 spots to number 16, his first time ranked among the world’s 20 richest. Ma and three other Chinese are among the the biggest gainers and appear among the 50 richest on the list.
Zuckerberg is also the leader in a youth revolution that has minted 46 billionaires under the age of 40. The youngest billionaire on the planet is Evan Spiegel, 24, co-founder of photo- messaging app Snapchat. California, driven by Silicon Valley tech companies, has spawned 23 new billionaires, including cofounders of car-hailing service Uber cofounders Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp, and their first employee Ryan Graves. Elizabeth Holmes, who runs blood-testing firm Theranos, debuts on the global list as the youngest self-made woman at age 31.  The state now has 131 individuals with 10-figure net worths, more than any other country besides China and the U.S.

The year’s biggest loser in dollar terms is Aliko Dangote of Nigeria, whose fortune dropped to $14.7 billion from $25 billion last year, propelled downward by a weaker Nigerian currency and shrinking demand for cement, his largest asset. He still retains the title of Africa’s richest man. The country that was lost the most ground by far was Russia, which now has 88 billionaires down from 111, less than not just the U.S. and China but now also Germany and India.

One hundred thirty-eight people from the 2014 list dropped out of the ranks altogether including fashion designer Michael Kors, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Zulily’s Mark Vadon and many Russians. Guatemala has a billionaire for the first time, and Iceland returns to the ranks after a five-year absence, the result of a comeback by Thor Bjorgolfsson, who’s now the only billionaire in Iceland’s history.
There’s no doubt that entrepreneurship is thriving globally. Fully 1,191 members of the list are self-made billionaires, while just 230 inherited their wealth. Another 405 inherited at least a portion but are still working to increase their fortunes.

Our estimates show a snapshot of wealth on Feb. 13, when we locked in stock prices and exchange rates from around the world. If a stock market wasn’t open on that day, we used the stock price from the previous trading day.

Hot Soccer Stars Beckham, Ronaldo, Donovan, and Casillas Switch Jerseys For a Manjoyable Moment

New dad David Beckham left Victoria and newborn Harper Seven Beckham for a few hours yesterday to join teammate Landon Donovan along with international opponents Iker Casillas and Cristiano Ronaldo at a press conference in LA. They foursome teamed up and switched jerseys coincidentally landing David with Cristiano's number seven, to announce the start of the Herbalife's World Football Challenge. The friendly soccer tournament kicks off tomorrow and continues through August 6. David's LA Galaxy is scheduled to compete against Cristiano's Real Madrid club on Saturday and though Victoria and baby Seven may miss out on the match, it's likely his boys Brooklyn, Cruz, and Romeo will take their usual seats in the stands to cheer on their all-star dad.

Britney Spears and Her Boys Go Blue For a Day With the LA Dodgers

Britney Spears crashed the LA Dodgers dugout yesterday with her sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston Federline, during a game against the San Diego Padres at Dodger Stadium. Britney's boys met several players, including outfielder Andre Ethier, who posed with Britney for solo shots and signed a baseball for Sean Preston. Decked out in Dodgers gear, the trio ate cotton candy while watching the game and taking a handful of pictures. Britney got a snap in herself and tweeted a picture of her family with the caption, "Go Dodgers!"

Britney has been full of special surprises for her sons lately. In January, she teased that she was working on a new song as a surprise for the boys, and revealed yesterday that her new track "Ooh La La" will be featured on the soundtrack to Smurfs 2. Britney has also been busy working on her eighth studio album, but in the meantime, she is splitting time between her work, family, and new boyfriend David Lucado.

Gabrielle Union Videobombing Dwyane Wade Is Seriously Adorable

While Dwyane was chatting with a reporter about his performance, Gabrielle popped up in the middle of the interview to take over Dwyane's answers, prompting the basketball player to laugh and ask her if she was "videobombing" him. She did her best impression of a serious postgame interview before giving her husband a slap on the butt and saying that he did pretty well for "an old geezer." Lady Gaga Takes the Polar Plunge with Shirtless Taylor Kinney

Just because Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are settling down doesn't mean the singer and actor are losing their sense of adventure. On Sunday, the duo took part in Chicago's Polar Plunge, jumping into icy Lake Michigan with several people, including Vince Vaughn. Not only did the event raise money for Special Olympics, but it also gave us a high dose of eye candy. Taylor, whose physique can be seen on NBC's Chicago Fire, was shirtless upon arrival. Even better: the actor's muscles were bulging as he carried Lady Gaga on the beach and goofed around with pals in a manly wrestling match. Although you wouldn't expect glamour at such an event, Lady Gaga's red lipstick looked perfect even as ice stuck to her hair.

The charitable day marks yet another memory to add to Lady Gaga and Taylor's most adorable moments. On Valentine's Day, Taylor asked for Mother Monster's hand in marriage, presenting her with a heart-shaped engagement ring she couldn't help but gush about on Instagram. One week later, Lady Gaga stole the spotlight during her awesome Oscars night, delivering an epic medley of songs from The Sound of Music. To top it all off, she surprised American Horror Story fans this week by announcing her plans to star in the show's fifth season. Read on to see pictures and video of the hot couple at the Polar Plunge, and if you can't get enough of Taylor's body, feast your eyes on his sexiest moments.

Interesting! Kate Middleton Play Sport on 33rd Birthday

Friday is Kate Middleton's 33rd birthday! Kate knows a thing or two about following proper royal protocol and maintaining perfect poise during official appearances, but she's also not afraid to work up a sweat. Kate's been active since Saint Andrew's school, where she played tennis and swam, and her sporty days haven't stopped since she became a duchess. She showed off her athletic skills in front of the cameras during her royal tour of New Zealand and Australia in April, so we rounded up all of her most active moments (remember that cricket game?).
